Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Monitor networks for speed and security, recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations. Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs. Configure, and maintain computer hardware, networking software and operating system software. Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements. Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation.The candidate will eventually be required to upgrade the network from NT 4.0 to 2003 and implement ISA server so any experience in these areas is highly desirable.User support for all software including in-house written database processes.(1st line) Day to day IT operational processes (changing tapes – rebooting machines etc). Checking and recovering overnight procedures as required. Required Skills: NT4 Server, Windows XP, ISA server, TCP*IP, Exchange 5.5*2000*2003, Veritas BackupExec 7.3 or above and MacAfee TVD. Beneficial Skills: Windows 2003 server (standard), Windows 2000 server, Cisco 2900, 3600 config (CCNA*CCNP), Progress 4GL (or any exposure to software development).
